Common UV flatbed printer questions
What can the ColDesi UV 300H3F and UV 500H3F produce?
Both machines are commercial UV flatbed printers built for direct-to-object customization. They can produce signs, displays, promotional products, awards, nameplates, acrylic pieces, decorative panels, personalized gifts, packaging prototypes, and many other finished products by printing directly onto the item or rigid sheet material.
What materials can these UV flatbed printers print on?
ColDesi lists compatibility with rigid substrates including wood, metal, glass, foam board, poster board, signage, canvas, acrylic, plastic, PVC, ceramic, paper, and more. Adhesion can vary with coatings, texture, contamination, and material chemistry, so clean the surface properly and test unfamiliar products before running a full production job.
What is the difference between the UV 300H3F and UV 500H3F?
The UV 300H3F has a 36-by-24-inch print area and is designed for smaller sheets, individual products, taller objects, and cylindrical applications through its integrated rotary system. The UV 500H3F has a much larger 63-by-47-inch print area for larger panels, more products per setup, and higher-volume flatbed production. The better fit depends on the size, height, shape, and quantity of the products you plan to print.
Do these machines print directly onto products or make transfers?
They are direct-to-object UV flatbed printers. The product, blank, or rigid sheet is positioned on the printer bed and the image is printed directly onto its surface. This is different from UV DTF equipment, which prints an adhesive transfer onto film for later application.
How large and how tall can the products be?
The UV 300H3F provides a 36-by-24-inch print area and accepts media up to approximately 9.8 inches tall. The UV 500H3F provides a 63-by-47-inch print area and lists a maximum print height of approximately 5.9 inches. Fixtures, product shape, safe print-head clearance, and the printable surface can reduce the usable dimensions for a specific job.
Can they print bright color on dark or transparent materials?
Yes. Both printers use CMYK, white, and varnish inks. White ink can be printed as an opaque underbase beneath color on dark products or used behind artwork on clear materials. Artwork setup, layer order, ink density, and the material itself determine the final appearance, so sample testing is recommended.
What effects can be created with varnish and layered printing?
Varnish can add selective gloss, tactile texture, dimensional accents, and simulated embossed effects. Multi-layer printing can combine color, white, and varnish to create premium finishes and visual depth. The achievable height and detail depend on the artwork, number of layers, print mode, and production time.
What features help with print quality, media handling, and safety?
Both models use vacuum-bed handling, automatic height measurement, white-ink circulation, ink-level detection, print-head collision protection, four UV curing lamps, and an ionizer bar for static reduction. These systems help hold media in place, maintain ink consistency, reduce setup problems, and protect the print heads during production.
What print technology and resolution do the UV 300H3F and 500H3F use?
Both models are listed with three Epson I3200-U1 print heads, variable-dot technology using 6, 12, and 18 picoliter droplets, and print resolution up to 720 by 2400 dpi. Actual speed and visible detail depend on the selected print mode, ink layers, artwork, material, maintenance condition, and production workflow.
What space, electrical service, software, training, and warranty are required?
Both printers require 220-volt electrical service. The UV 300H3F is listed at approximately 85 by 61 by 53 inches and 1,085 pounds. The UV 500H3F is listed at approximately 130 by 80 by 57 inches. Plan for delivery clearance, suitable flooring, operator access, ventilation, and service space. Both product packages list ColDesi UV-RIP software, a startup kit, training and support, a two-year parts-and-labor warranty, and six-month print-head coverage; travel costs are not included. Confirm the final installation and package requirements with ColDesi before purchase.
