The check valve in the center is made of brittle acrylic plastic. If it is overtightened, even slightly, it can crack very easily. It should only be snugged—not tightened excessively.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe recommend slightly twisting the tube in the unscrewing direction before inserting it into the next fitting. When you release the tube, it will naturally tighten itself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou may notice that the fittings to the right look different—and you're correct. We changed to the new style because the previous plastic material was more brittle.
